No Cans Here!

This is approximately 4 pounds of tomatoes.
I should have shot the picture when there were 9 pounds.
Got to love Food City; 3 pounds of Roma tomatoes for $1.
They are about to become this:

Homemade Tomato Soup for Easter Eve (?) dinner.
Yep, that's right. Not condensed. Not from a can. Not frozen or packaged.
We're talking *fresh* *homemade* tomato soup.

And this was Moon over Yuma tonight.

Barrettes

Lately, on my second day off, I have been creating these barrettes for myself. Yes, I know they are actually side combs, but "barrettes" is just easier for some reason.

I am definitely a "flowers-in-the-hair" kind of girl. I used to wear combs like this with roses on them in high-school. I know I got made fun of, but I liked them anyway... and I like these.

I'm thinking of selling some on Etsy, but I definitely need to create some to sell, which is hard because I love them all.

My favorite is the one with the wheels & cogs on it. The pieces were salvaged from an antique pocket watch. I'm trying to figure out where to get more pieces like it.

I made the one with the hibiscus (my favorite flower) and the one with the silver hoops today. I wanted something to go with my Easter nails which will be done tomorrow. I'll post photos ;)

Mulligatawny Stew

Feeling a little Indian today.

Actually, I woke up at 3 am and started watching TV on my iPod. Along came Rachel Ray, who ordinarily I can't stand but I was hoping she would put me to sleep. This was one of the dishes she made and it looked delicious.

It was. :D

So many projects, old and new!

Welcome!
There are so many things I have been wanting to catalog here long before I even decided to go ahead and create this blog. It's difficult to pick a jumping-off point but one has to start somewhere.

I will start with my nail polish collection. I just added 8 polishes to it on Friday. I had purchased two new colors at Sally's and happened to walk into Payless for the first time in months and was shocked to find out that for one day only, all of their polishes were FIFTY FREAKIN' CENTS! I only bought six, shockingly enough. A lot of what they had, I already had something similar.

I am pretty proud of my collection. I haven't counted lately, but I must have 50 or so colors, around 50 stamping plates, a zillion microbeads and gemstones, etc etc etc. All my polishes are stored in a Goodwill Rescue CD rack. The shelves are made of marble tiles that I had cut to fit. As much as I love this piece, I'm thinking about upsizing to a media rack. When I first made this, you could see all the polishes on each shelf.

Without further ado... my nail collection... so far... lol

Every 6 days, I do my nails. It has been an idea of mine to keep track of my designs for quite a while and so many designs have been lost. With that said, I am going to *try* to post every design right here.
